Gas and the state of the Mariners

These two are not related, but those that read my blog and that know me, realize that not much in my mind is related.

We went to Gillette, WY for Memorial Day in the Jeep. On the way there, we got almost 28 MPG (27.6, we like to round up). On the way back, with a headwind, we were closer to 25. I was impressed. I still don't understand how the price of gas all works. In Wyoming, Diesel is cheaper than Unleaded in some places. We paid $2.80 in Gillette while here at home it is around $3.20. I am not complaining about the price of gasoline, I just find it weird how a different part of the nation is featured everyday as "having the cheapest gas." WTF am I suppose to do now? Drive to Dyersville, Iowa because Diesel is $2.79? Why do I care who has the cheapest gas in other parts of the nation...selfish bastard.

The M's appear to emerging from their 6 game losing streak by beating my pitcher. Why can't they win 1-0, instead of racking up 7 earned runs against him?

My office is no more decorated then it was when I first mentioned I need to decorate. Unless you count a Mariners calendar, the Mariners schedule and a UM lanyard.

Satellite radio rules in the middle of Wyoming. We have Sirius, which is overall, nice. XM has baseball. I am not paying for 2 monthly subscriptions. If it wasn't for Lora's Jeep having 1 year free, I don't think I would have pursued this route.

Someone actually listened to me

Well, not really. I was reading the Mariners post-game recap article from last night’s victory and the first two paragraphs are dedicated to J.J. Putz. They are using him to close now. In fact, they have gone so far to call in "Everyday J.J". Not as catchy as "Everyday Eddie", but it will do for now.

The Mariners are NOT in last place in the AL West (probably called the AL worst this year). We have a 2.5 game lead over Anaheim and only 2 games back from first place in the division. We are a bunch of fighters. I wouldn't be surprised if this year in August, the M's go on a winning streak bender of sorts.

To put this into some perspective: The only team at or above .500 in the AL West is the first place Rangers, they are exactly .500. Looking at the NL West, who last year was chastised for having the division winner barely break the .500 mark; everyone is over .500 in that division. Yes, everyone! When the Rockies have a better record than you team, be afraid, be very afraid.

No posts in May!?

Sorry, this is my first post in almost a month. I don't have a lot to say right now, just making sure I have a "May 2006" archive link on the side bar.

The M's are struggling and so is my fanatasy team. At the time of this writing, I am in 7th and on the verge of falling to 8th. (not to Greg).

Not much else going, but work is a bit crazy. I will make sure that June is a better blogging month. There you go Hallmark, lets make June "Better Blogging Month"
