The reason for my long adsence...

Our son was born in mid-April and has taken up all of my time. In time, I will get back to talking about baseball and how I suck at head-to-head fantasy baseball.

Missing any episodes?

A simple way to catch up on Simpsons, Family Guy and Beer Nutz! I think I heard about hulu.com last year, but didn't pay any attention. However, now I can get caught up on all the Simpson episodes I have been missing.

Some additional info on what is offered.

History lesson for everyone

75 years since prohibition roamed this land.

Subtle brilliance

"It's a sitcom! How hard can it be?"

I have to give big props to the writers of The Office. I have had an episode running through my mind since I saw the rerun last Thursday. The episode is "Local Ad" and two people in there are very familiar to me. I am sure that most of you that read this blog, already know what I am about to share.

Did the two guys that are from the ad agency look familiar? Both of them have been seen in popular ads for about 18 months. The guy that does a majority of the talking has been seen lately leaving long, odd voicemails on a girls T-Mobile cell phone and then deleting them to be re-recorded. The other ad rep has been spotted in Home Depot ads. The one that comes to my mind is when his "daughter" tells him how outdated their kitchen is and then receives a monetary gift from "mom" for doing so. Having two guys in ads, play ad makers is beyond funny to me.

I think this subtle bit of brilliance is fantastic. Perhaps to some of you, this was not so subtle.

After further review...

I feel Lopez should have dove after the ball in the 9th. I did not see highlights when I posted yesterday, but I saw the "lazy" play of Lopez. I am beginning to wonder if he is resorting to last years tactics that had him on the lips of trade rumors among fans.

What is up in Detroit?! I need to diversify my starting pitching in fantasy baseball. I was dumb enough to draft 4 Tiger pitchers this year!

Why in Baltimore?

Talk about a bad road trip. So far, we have lost 3 games with 1 left to play. George sherrill, the ex-Mariner, has received 2 saves so far. The pen complete self-distructed today after Hernandex had the O's shutdown for 8 innings.

The season is young, but times like these we really need to learn. Did we "rush" Lowe back to the pen too fast? O'Flaherty, who is generally spot on, gave up 2 ER today. We have one last gasp of air in Camden Yards tomorrow before we venture south to Tampa. After we sweep Tampa, we return home for the first of many games between the M's and the Angels of Orange County.

Side note: Best invention ever for gaming, the Wii. We only have a very small collection of games (no guitar hero yet) but I love playing Wii Sports and the Olympics.

Really, it is not a bad start

With the exception being Putz blowing his first save of the year (something that took him until late July to do last year) and now being on the 15 day DL.

2-1 is not bad, especially with how strong our starting pitching has been.

Sure, we only have the 1 W, but we have 7 innings for two of our starters, and a very low ERA all the way around.

The bats have also been showing up, not so much in terms of HR's, but small ball is getting the job done. Fans are already starting to boo Sexson (.091). I will admit last year I did not like what he was doing. This is a new year, and I think Mac needs to move him out of the 4 spot and into the 6 or 7 spot. He is swinging at bad pitches again, and pitchers seem to have a formula for him: "Make him chase outside, and he is as good as gone." Putting him down the batting order a bit might take the pressure of a 4 hitter off of him and let him focus on getting his swing back.

Another great move is having Lopez bat in the 2 spot. He appears to really be enjoying himself both in the batter box, as well as on the field.

Off to a good start!

Overall, Bedard was good. He may not have been all that overpowering, but he was able to get a few K's, and have a few frustrated reactions in return. It was nice to see us put some offense together as well.

Didn't get a chance to see too much action from opening day, but the Nat's are 2-0 and the Royals are ready for some upsets. Don't be surprised if KC does not finish in last place in the Central.

I am loving the return of baseball!
